October 29, 2014 – President Michael Sata of Zambia is dead. He was 77. He died on Tuesday in King Edward VII Hospital London of an undisclosed ailment.
His death has created a political vacuum with many not so clear about who will succeed him but the Zambian cabinet which is meeting this morning will decide who succeed him.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing on of our beloved president,” cabinet secretary Roland Msiska said on national TV.
He said that Mr. Sata’s wife and son were at his bedside.
“I urge all of you to remain calm, united and peaceful during this very difficult period,” Msiska added.
