Timothy Chindo, PDP’s Candidate Wins Bye-election in Kaduna

July 7, 2014The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released result of the bye-election held for Kauru/Chawai Constituency for Kaduna State House of Assembly on Saturday and declared Mr. Timothy Chindo of the Peoples’ Democratic Party elected.

Chindo polled a total of 36, 152 votes to defeat Dr. Zankahai Isaac Auta of the APC who polled 16, 451 votes out of the 53, 596 votes cast during the exercise.

According to INEC, 108, 529 Nigerians were registered voters but only 55,621 were accredited for the exercise while valid votes stood at 51,603, while 993 votes were rejected.

Voter turn-out according to INEC was 49.38 percent.
