July 14, 2014 – Twenty lawmakers of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State have served impeachment notice on the State Governor, Alhaji Umaru Al-Makura.

The notice for gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds was signed on Monday by 20 PDP lawmakers, while the remaining four All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers abstained.

At the sitting on Monday, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed directed Clerk of the House, Mr. Ego Maikeffi, to serve Al-Makura notice of impeachment.

The House is threatening to impeach the governor on 16-count charge that borders on extra-budgetary expenses by the governor who was elected under the platform of APC.
