Coach of Brazil Luiz Felipe Scolari has resigned. He resigned following the woeful loss of his team in the World Cup 2014 on home soil.
His tutored side suffered 7:1 defeat in the hands of Germany in the semi -final stage only to lose 3:0 to Netherlands in the third place match.
Scolari, 65, won the tournament in 2002 but the hosts could only finish fourth at this year’s event.
He was booed every time his image appeared on the big screen inside the stadium in Brasilia during the last defeat. Scolari first took over the Brazil side in 2001 and led the team to World Cup success a year later, beating Germany 2-0 in the 2002 final in Yokohama, Japan.
But after spells in charge of Portugal, Premier League side Chelsea, Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan and Brazilian club Palmeiras, he resumed control of the national team in 2012.
Speaking after the woeful loss to the German machine, he said it was the saddest moment in his football playing career and said he would be remembered as the coach that lost 7:1 to Germany.
