The Lagos State Government has charged retiring staff to invest their money in business they are knowledgeable about.
Head of Service, Mrs. Oluseyi Williams gave the advice while speaking at the ceremony held in honour of 70 staff from different cadres who have served the state meritoriously in various schools under the Education District V1.
Speaking through Mr. Tajudeen Atiko-Balogun, the Head of service said the retirees have served the state government diligently and government is appreciating them for all that they have done for the state.
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District V1, Mrs. Iyabode Osifeso congratulated the retirees, noting that the officers though retiring were not tired having worked for 35 years or have attained the statutory age of 60.
She advised them to rest well and eat well in retirement “after hard work, rest is pleasant, so I urge you to eat well, sleep well and eat quality food and engage in exercise.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates of service and gifts to the retirees. Education District V1 covers secondary schools in Ikeja, Mushin and Oshodi-Isolo local government Areas
