Work seems to have slowed down on the on-going Yakoyo- Alagbole Bridge which is being constructed by the Ibikunle Amosun-led Government of Ogun State.

When our correspondent visited the bridge which has thrown commuters in perpetual trekking exercise to and from work, only few workers were seen on duty. As usual, both end of the bridge were blocked by construction workers with policemen manning the Alagbole end of the bridge, now clogged with operators of motorbikes.

Some motorists were also spotted influencing officers on duty for access to link the Yakoyo end from Alagbole. So far work has progressed. Almost all the concrete basements have been laid, with some of the concrete roadway already suspended but the layers which appeared to be too thin.

“The work has slowed down, and with the way they are going this bridge may not be completed by 2015 most especially with the elections already here”, that means this our suffering will continue for a long time, Taiwo Olalekan told our correspondent.

“You can see that they have blocked the road since that fire incident at Oando”, he continued. Olalekan appealed to the governor to speed up the job.
