The students in their hundreds stormed the area with three luxury buses enrolled in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operated by transport unions with at least four 18-seater buses.

The students could however not gain access to their destination, which is the office of the Lagos State Governor. The access road leading to the office was blocked by a detachment of armed policemen from the state Rapid Response Squad (RRS), heavily armed with rifles and tear gas on one hand while the students armed themselves with kerosene and handkerchiefs to protect themselves from what appeared to be an imminent attack of tear gas.

The students however appeared prepared and they brought a goat and cooking utensils to prepare meals and mats to pass the night on the road leading to the State House of Assembly and the office of the Governor.

Addressing his colleagues President of the Student Union Government, Mr. Nurudeen Yusuf said that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has performed in the past seven years but that it is sad that he is ending his reign on a terrible note with a hike in tuition fee. “What would you be remembered for after death?, he asked.

Attempt by youth leader, of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Mr. Tayo Sanyaolu to persuade the students to shelve the protest since the governor was already looking into the situation could however not yield the desired result.
