June 11, 2014 – The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has approved that Thursday, 12th June, 2014 be observed as a work free day in the State to commemorate June 12, 1993 aborted election won by late Chief MKO Abiola.
This was contained in a circular issued today by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Oluseyi Williams from her desk. According to the Circular, commemoration of June 12, 1993 is significant in the actualization of Democracy in Nigeria. “It is hereby notified for general information that His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola [SAN], the Governor of Lagos State has approved Thursday, 12th June, 2014 as a work free day.’
The circular further enjoined all workers in the State to attend events organized by various government agencies and groups to commemorate the day. Work will however resume on Friday, 13th June, 2014.
