At least 40 soccer lovers were Sunday killed when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated at a football viewing centre in Yobe State.

A report monitored on Channels said the attack came as fans were watching a football match in a viewing centre.

“There has been a bomb explosion this evening and so far more than 40 people have been killed,” the AFP quoted a police officer as saying in Mubi town.

The policeman’s account was confirmed by a nurse at the Mubi General Hospital, who also requested anonymity.

The policeman told AFP that the bomb exploded at roughly 6:30 pm (1730 GMT)during a local football match in a local pitch,
