Trott Moloto, a former Head Coach of the Senior National Team of South Africa, Bafana Bafana, has expressed belief that African champions Nigeria will lift the continent’s flag high at the 20th FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
The former Bafana Bafana boss made this statement as part of a delegation of South African Premier League club, Mamemodi Sundowns on a courtesy visit to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, on Thursday.
“I have absolutely no doubt in the strength, character and capacity of the Super Eagles. You have a strong and vibrant squad, and I believe the Eagles will be ready to fly high in Brazil.
“The forthcoming FIFA World Cup is one that will favour African teams. The weather will be good for the continent’s flagbearers, and I see the Super Eagles excelling.”
Maigari was delighted at Moloto’s confidence in the Super Eagles, and used the brief meeting to inform the Sundowns’ crew of the readiness of the Nigeria Football Federation to prepare the Eagles adequately for a major impact at the FIFA World Cup finals.
“I thank your delegation and I am moved by your confidence in Nigeria football and Nigeria footballers. I am aware that you presently have on your books one of the our National Team stars, Ejike Uzoenyi, and I am also aware that you are aiming to sign more Nigerian players.
“The Government and good people of Nigeria are very much keen on the Super Eagles doing very well in Brazil. The NFF is fully determined to ensure the Eagles are thoroughly prepared to make the nation and the continent proud at the World Cup finals,” Maigari said.
