Ace movie producer and Chief Executive Officer, Top Radio, Mrs. Amaka Igwe is dead. She was 50. Amaka Igwe died yesterday after an attack of ashma.
Factional Chairman Actors Guild of Nigeria(AGN), Mr. Don Pedro Aganbi confirmed that the filmmaker died yesterday of ashma attack. He said filmmaker are already paying their last respect to her in her private office in Ikeja.
Igwe died in Enugu while preparing to shoot a soap. He was said to have died on the way to hospital.
She is survived by a husband, Charlse Igwe and three children. Amaka Igwe rose to prominence with a number of soap operas on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), among which is Checkmate.
She also created Fuji House of Commotion that brought the likes of Kunle Bamtefa and Seun Oni and Ngozi Nwosu together.
She was a founding member of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP). She has produced dozens of movies, some of which have not been released. Until her death, she was a member of the committee set up by the Federal Government on Film Intervention.
