Motorists using vehicles with fake Third Party Insurance certificate have been advised to obtain genuine insurance certificate so that the insurer can be of assistance to the insured party each time he is unfortunate to crash into a car ahead of him.
Managing Director, Mutual Benefit Assurance, Mr. Femi Ashanuga made the appeal while speaking at an interactive session with Lagos State Governors Office Correspondents (LAGOCO) as part of activities to mark their press week.
He said it is a wrong notion for motorist to think that insurance companies are difficult to deal with and are of no use to the motorist at point of need. He said such a notion was as old as the colonial days, stressing that with recent capitalisation exercise, insurance firms have become more responsive to the need of their clients.
He said that besides the Comprehensive Insurance package, a motorist that obtains genuine Third Party certificate with just N5,000 gets much more than that when he is involved in accidents.
According to him, the insurance firm can spend up to N1million on repairs of a damaged vehicle where the insured party carries just a Third Party Certificate worth N5,000.
He said the days of using fake certificate to escape policemen are almost over
