Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu who is Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said in a statement that the ministry is currently processing fund for 40 practitioners that applied and met criteria put in place to access the fund. He did not mention names of the practitioners but explained that the fund will assist them in setting up accredited institutions to improve core competence in the area of film production.
The sum of N3 billion was set aside by President for this purpose. But the Special Adviser said 300 million Naira will be made available to practitioners in two phases.
He said N150 million is dedicated for skill acquisition covering areas such as script writing, directing, film production, design, special effects, lighting, sound, acting and cinematography, while the next N150 million will be disbursed as grants to training institutions offering courses in relevant fields.
He appealed for more practitioners to apply for the fund.
