Chairman Lagos State Chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Don Pedro Aganbi has been appointed into one of the committees organising the 2013 Olokun Festival.
Chief promoter of the festival Otunba Gani Adams made the revelation at a ceremony in Lagos . He said Aganbi was chosen as a member of the committee base on recommendation he received and his track records in events planning and project management.
“We are sure he will bring some added value, innovations and dept to this year’s Olokun festival. Our culture has the procedures for law and order, a decent marital process, trade relationship and quality leadership. Mention the system that you cannot find in our culture, and then, I will tell you that such thing never existed in any culture.” he posited.
In his acceptance speech, Don Pedro Aganbi thanked Otunba Gani Adams for the gesture and promised to do his best to make the 2013 Olokun festival a huge success, adding that ten years down the line, the festival has become the most consistent and enduring cultural event in Lagos State that has given birth to 20 other cultural festivals that the group now marks all over Yorubaland.
He said the festival does not only signify effort to uplift the Yoruba culture and tradition but that it has become an event of immense economic benefit to Nigerians who make brisk business from those who attend the festival each year.
