The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola today handed over Oshorun/Ibeshe road to the two communities.

The road is 7 kilometres in length built to a width of 15 metres, with provisions for drains, pedestrian walk-ways, service duct, interlocking paving stones, lay-bys, speed breakers and street lights with alternative power supply.

Speaking at the event, Fashola described the project as a promise fulfilled. He said that he was brought to the community during the electioneering campaign, adding that then it took his convoy 45 minutes to drive through the road. “But today, it took us less than 10 minutes to drive through the road”, he said.

The governor explained that the road will usher in more schools, petrol stations and other business stressing that the road is nothing but a statement of fidelity. “Very soon, the contractors will be here to stark work on the Ferry terminal. Very soon, we will be here to start work on a new housing estate that will deliver 720 flats”, the governor said.

He thanked the people of Ikorodu for cooperating with government on the construction of the 13.3 kilometres Ikorodu road, which he said is being expanded from four to six lanes with a Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) corridor, stressing that the present pains which ongoing work on the road has engendered will eventually translate into a thing of joy for the people. “There is silver lining at the end of the pain”, the governor said and called on residents to engage in business that they can bequeath to their children.
