The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has berated the Imo State Governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha over what it called a desperate attempt to truncate the wish of the people in Imo State, describing his actions as undemocratic.
A statement signed by Acting Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Tony Okeke said it is unfortunate that Okorocha deployed thugs that violently disrupted activities during the election adding that the governor went ahead to unilaterally declare results of election when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the election inconclusive.
According to the party, the Imo state governor needs to urgently retrace his steps by halting his rapid and rabid descent into barefaced dictatorship. “Unfortunately and shamelessly too, authoritarianism is fast nibbling away the hard earned democracy in the Eastern heartland, with Okorocha furiously dancing naked to the macabre beats with his two ears shut”, he said.
He said that the governor’s attempt to browbeat the alertness of the people of Oguta and force INEC to shirk its responsibility failed woefully, and described the governor’s action as nothing but desperation that could force a sitting governor to run from pillars to post, ridiculing himself and his office with cooked election results.
He said that the fact that the PDP is in clear lead despite intimidation and various acts of violence by All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is a clear indication of the acceptance of the party in Imo State.
