Emotional affection between siblings is often classified as a taboo in any African society, not to talk of taking it further into marriage. The only exception would be when parties in the union are totally unaware of the situation.

This appears to be the plight of Prince Ihienacho and his lover, Daberechi in the film, Agony of a Prince. But Iheanacho’s father, who knows so much about history of the two, is against the union. But the lovers are determined to have their way.  As the relationship grew, the prince was afflicted with strange mental ailments in mysterious circumstances. But even in madness, Daberechi is unwilling to let go of love.

She embarked on a mission to rescue her lover. The search for solution took her to the evil forest where she is told that the answer to her quest lies in the home of the prince. What could be the outcome of the mission and the affection between Iheanacho and Daberechi? This is left for you to find out in the film produced by Grace Egbejimba and directed by Emeka Emeasor.

Rated 18 by the National Film and Video Censors Board,  Agony of a Prince is no doubt a good film, with clear picture and audio quality but the dialogue could have been better. But one wonders if a without a spell can actually fall in love with a mad prince. Will you? Kenneth Okonkwo played Iheanacho while Chike Ike was Daberechi.
