LAGOS DONATES AMBULANCE, ICU EQUIPMENT TO MILITARY HOSPITAL

The Lagos State Government has donated an ambulance equipped with intensive care unit comprising defibrillator, ECG machine and ventilator worth several millions of Naira to the Military Hospital, Ikoyi as part of efforts to enhance operation of the hospital.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris who made the donation in Lagos  said the equipment were given out as a demonstration of the state government’s resolve to support institutions that share common objectives and goals with government in addressing the wellbeing of the people.

“Alot of the equipment we are donating to the hospital including the multi-parameter cardiac monitor, ventilator, automated external defibrillator, pulse oximeter, portable echocardiogram machine and ECG machine are geared towards the development of the intensive care unit of the hospital based on the request of the authorities of the hospital”, he said adding that the donation represents the state government’s collaborative drive with other sectors of the society to strengthen and improve social and health services to the people of Lagos.

He added the Ministry of Health will soon initiate a process that would lead to partnership with hospital as well as other related care providers on emergency matters.

In his response, Director of the Hospital, Brigadier General Napoleon Amarie commended the state government for the good gesture stressing that the ambulance and indeed the donation will help to improve health services delivery in the hospital.

He assured that the hospital will utilized the ambulance effectively adding that the hospital is not only open to any form of partnership with the Lagos State government but also ready to key into the various programmes of the ministry.
