Senator representing, Lagos West, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon has said he earns only 970,000 including allowances, stressing that the rumour making the rounds that lawmakers earn so large an amount is not true but that it is part of effort to draw attention away from the executive.
He ruled out any possibility of defecting to another party in the quest to actualize his dream of emerging the next governor of Lagos State. The Senator who spoke in Lagos said he was in Alliance for Democracy (AD) which later transformed into the Action Congress of Nigeria (AC) adding that he is only waiting for the leader of the party, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to authorise those interested in the race to indicate their intention before he will roll out his programme.
He said that the leader of the party has not told him not to contest and has not indicated his intention in anybody. The Senator called on all those involved in the race to imbibe the tenants of democracy adding that those interested in the race must make their intention known and let the people decide who they want to govern them in 2015 and beyond.
The Senator called on government to look at the possibility of empowering Nigerians so that they can be in a position to employ more Nigerians in order to reduce the level of poverty in the society. He said that he is already thinking in that line adding that very soon he will launch a programme that will empower Nigerians .
The lawmaker said there is nothing like constituency allowance as many Nigerians are made to believe and that what is in vogue is for the lawmakers to indicate where projects they identified as priority in their constituency will be sited and funded by the executive.
