First meeting summoned by elected Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Mr. Don Pedro Aganbi was held this afternoon at the usual venue for state meetings, Gabrielle Haile Selassie Hotel, Adetola, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
As expected the meeting turned out to be one of the best ever recorded in terms of attendance in the history of the guild and quality of the people present at the meeting. Members of the state chapter who honoured the invitation include former President of the Guild, Emeka Ike, Rachael Oniga, former national Secretary, Emeka Rollas, former President Association of Movie Producers and President Edo Filmmakers, Mr. Paul Obazele and comic actor with specialisation for drunken role, Uchendu and immediate past chairman of the state chapter, Mr. Emeka Rising Ibe.
It was indeed a full house. As at 2PM when Starconnectmedia entered the venue, at least 72 people had signed the register of attendance. The artistes all spoke their minds on the election that brought in Aganbi. For Emeka Ike, it is time for Victor Osuagwu to get serious, take away pride and join hands with Aganbi to move AGN forward. He called on members to work with Aganbi so as to move the union in the right direction.
Immediate past chairman of the union, Emeka Rising Ibe used the occasion to present certificate of return to the chairman, Aganbi, his Vice Chairman, Doris Chima and Treasure, Chioma Ekezie. Other members of his executive are Director of Guild Services, Fred Ekata, Special Adviser on Media, Paul Julius, Special Adviser on Entertainment, Cyntia Agolo.
Members of the union also used the privilege to register with anger, using placards with clear messages to the Board of Trustees (BOT) and President of the union, Ibinabo Fiberesima. Some of the messages read, “Ibinabo Fiberesima Ex-convict; Don Pedro is our authentic chairman; Don Pedro’s mandate must stand; Emmanuel Oguguah is the problem of AGN; AGN Lagos State says No to Ibinabo, no to injustice; Ibinabo, leave Don Pedro, Emeka Rising Alone”.
