Zuma was billed to travel to Mozambique to attend a regional summit in the Mozambican capital Maputo on Thursday, but decided to call off the trip. A statement from the office of the President quoted Zuma to have reiterated his gratitude on behalf of government, to all South Africans who have continued to support the Madiba family.
Meanwhile, well-wishers have gathered outside the hospital in Pretoria where Mr Mandela is being treated with many praying for miraculous survival of the man whose struggle uprooted apartheid from South Africa.
Zuma had told a crowded press conference that doctors were doing everything possible to cater for the health of Mandela. Mandela got Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was elected president the following year. He left office in 1999 after a single term. Mandela would be 95 on July 18.
