LEBANON – Not less than 51 people,  including two Canadians were killed and 223 others injured in continued attacks by the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF on Lebanon on Wednesday, the Lebanese ministry of health has said.

At Al-Zarariyeh, two young men, were killed. They are Muhammad Fawzi Zarqat, who was working in car repair shop and Muhammad Marwa, who was killed while providing food to the paramedics from his home. Another child Ali Hussein Hashem was also killed in the area.

Two Canadians, Daad and Hussein Tabaja were among those killed in Lebanon, while they were trying to leave their home in the south and were hit by an airstrike in the heavy traffic.

In a statement,  Canada said they are  “aware of the deaths of two Canadian” and have “received one request for consular assistance related to injuries recently sustained during the attacks.

Far away at the United Nations, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikativ said his country appreciates the French and American efforts to put an end to the war

According to him, current events cannot be separated from violations and attacks that Lebanon has been exposed to for decades

“We affirm our commitment to Resolution 1701 and I call for serious work to withdraw Israel from the occupied Lebanese territories

“Our country is a victim of Israeli cyber, air and sea aggression that may develop into a ground attack on our territory

“My presence here is to come up with a serious solution and to pressure Israel to a ceasefire on all fronts”, he said.

As he puts it, Lebanon is witnessing an unprecedented escalation, and that Lebanese hospitals are crowded with hundreds of injured civilians, including women and children.
