TEL AVIV – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF says it has eliminated Marwan Issa, Deputy Head,Hamas military wing.
One Israeli soldier was also killed and five y injured in gun battle with Hamas. The dead soldier has been identified as Staff Sergeant Liam Hazi.
IDF Spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the Hamas deputy chief was eliminated in an airstrike carried out by the Israeli Air Force, IAF.
He added that during a counterterrorism activity in Jenin (Thursday), IDF soldiers conducted searches within a structure in the area, where they engaged in close-quarters combat with two Hamas fighters who fortified themselves inside.
“Several hours later, in a joint IDF and ISA counterterrorism activity, IDF and additional forces encircled the structure the two terrorists had retreated to and eliminated them”, he said.
According to him, during the first encounter, Staff Sergeant Liam Hazi was killed and five additional soldiers were injured.
He said the IDF extends its condolences to the family and will continue to support them.
