BERLIN – Olympic champion Alexander Zverev can imagine former German tennis star Boris Becker returning to the sport as “player, coach, federation official or whatever.”

“He knows how to do it,” Zverev told the Bild newspaper on Wednesday. Becker is certainly very important for German tennis and “we will always accept his help. He will be welcomed with open arms,” the player added.

Apart from a TV appearance, Zverev hasn’t had any contact with Becker after his release from prison.

Becker was sentenced to prison in Britain in April for not properly declaring assets during bankruptcy proceedings. He was released in December and deported to Germany.

“We’ve both been on the road a lot in the last few weeks, but we’ll have a meeting in Trier. We are very close and I’m happy that he is coming,” Zverev said, referring to the Davis Cup qualifiers match against Switzerland in Trier on Friday and Saturday.
