ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Chairman, Zenith Labour Party ZLP, Anambra State, Chief Uche Ugwoji has given reasons for adopting Dr. Obiora Okonkwo as candidate for the November 6, governorship election.
Ugwoji who spoke with journalists shortly after meeting the campaign team of Obiora Okonkwo said , the party chose him because of his credibility and acceptability by Anambra people.
According to him, Okonkwo is a strong force in People Democratic Party PDP and we are happy to have him flying our ticket. He said that before chief Obiora Okonkwo was granted waiver to fly the party’s ticket after he resigned officially from the PDP.
“Obiora Okonkwo is now a member of ZLP . He officially resigned from PDP . It is our right to grant him waiver ,which we have done “he said.
On the structure of the party to win the governorship election in the state, he said that ZLP has all the necessary structure in the 21 local government , 181 wards and in all the 5000 polling units in the state.
“We have the structure to win the governorship election come November 6 in Anambra state ” he said. According to him, with the personality of Obiora Okonkwo as the candidate , the party is sure of winning the governorship election.
Ugwoji who is also the chairman of Anambra State Interparty Advisory Council IPAC , said they are still rooting for a person with credibility and not interested in the zoning as being suggested by some people.
According to him, IPAC will make official statement on Obiora Okonkwo after consultation with other parties members.
