HIROSHIMA, Japan – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met for the second time in a week on Saturday at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met for the second time in a week on Saturday at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan.
A week earlier, Scholz hosted Zelensky during a brief visit to Berlin. The two world leaders met again on Saturday night at the Grand Prince Hotel in Hiroshima, the site of the summit, shortly after the Ukrainian president arrived.
“Good to see you, so we are meeting quite often,” Scholz said to Zelensky.
“Always a pleasure,” Zelensky replied.
The pair spoke for about 20 minutes on the 22nd floor of the hotel. Scholz and Zelensky informally used each other’s first names for the first time in public.
