April 17, 2015 – Multitalented Nollywood actor and presenter, Mr. Yemi Sodimu is out to deal with pirates who reap where they do not sow by churning out films and selling them in the street even when producers are yet to release them on DVD.
Sodimu caught up with agents of pirates on Ikorodu road and seized one of the copies displayed for sale.
Shodimu said on Instagram that he actually thought October 1 which won several awards at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award( AMVCA) was out. The film which was produced by Kunle Afolayan won the producer best director at AMVCA.
Sodimu who reached out in traffic to purchase the film said he discovered that the products were pirated copies and had to seize one when the seller said the selling price was N500.
October 1 was produced with $2 million and is yet to be released yet pirates and their agents have infiltrated the streets with the film.
The producer is calling on Nigerians not to patronize the film until it is officially out. Other films he seized from agent of the pirates include 30 Days in Atlanta among others.
