Makes case for traditional rites, ‘Oro’ in Yorubaland to unearth mystery

ABUJA, Nigeria – A pan-Yoruba Youth Group, Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide has called on the government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity in Nigeria.

 Aare Oladotun Hassan, President, Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW)/ Nigerian Youth Coalition (NYC) who made the call at a press conference in Abuja said the call becomes imperative following reports of incessant and almost daily killings of Nigerians without any concrete plans by government to stop the endless bloodshed.

The group listed recent killing of Oba Olufon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi,  daughter of Pa Fasoranti Late Mrs. Olakunrin, a Reverend cleric in Ekiiti and the 53 lives beheaded on their farmland in Zabarmari, Borno.  According to the group, the death of Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi is a wake-up call that no one is safe in Nigeria.

“We demand the application of traditional methods in dealing with insecurity in Yoruba Land  via “oro” rites on the death of Olufon from all Yoruba Obas in Yoruba Land, led by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Awujale of Ijebu Land and all other obas in Yoruba Land to mention a few.

“We demands collective statement from all our  Southwestern Governors in 24 hours. We call for a thorough  joint search for the armed bandits by the Nigerian Army, Airforce , Police and Amotekun  Security Corps.

“We call on FG to coordinate a reprisal against the armed bandits and terrorists, while we call on  Aare Ona Kankanfo, Iba Gani Adams to rise to the occasion, Alh Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, Askari, Abija, Sadam etal”, the group said, adding that what has transpired during this period is nothing but a glaring consequences of the symptoms of a failed state cum bad governance in Nigeria.

“This killing is unimaginably rampant on a daily basis, without any respite, we call on FG and 36 states to urgently declare a state of emergency on insecurity in Nigeria within the next 24 hours. We demand for security emergency summit of governors,  obas and leaders in southwest within 24 hours”, the group said.
