UMUAHIA, Abia – All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA candidate for Aba Central  Constituency, Mathew Okorie has asked the people of Aba to vote massively for  Prof Gregory Ibe  and all the party’s candidates.

Mathew Okorie  who spoke during Prof Ibe campaign team tour  of Aba Central Constituency said a vote for  Ibe and other APGA candidates in the state will help to  revive all dead factories in the state.

“Enyimba Hotel is dead, vote for Prof. Greg Ibe so that the Hotel can be revived and create works for teaming youths ” he said. Mathew Okorie   advised  the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP candidate Hon. Abraham Oba to go and rest because at  72, he has nothing to offer  the people.

According to him, Oba  should be resting, and not contesting for an elective position because age is not on his side.

“It is my  opinion that a man at 72 he  should be resting, and not be contesting for an elective position. APGA candidates are not poor, and will work for the people, if elected.

“If you  want Enyimba Hotel to be revived,  vote for Prof. Greg Ibe so that the Hotel can be functional. I will give Gloucester ward (Hon. Abraham Oba ward) Nine  million naira, if I wins

“A man who is 72 years should be resting, and only a man with poverty mentality that would want to contest for an elective position at 72. As a matter of fact, APGA candidates are not poor, so if they are elected into power, they will work for the people. I am not poor, so my decision to contest for an elective position is not to steal public funds, or to enrich myself.

“Rather, I want to represent the people of Aba Central State Constituency, just to bring home the dividends of democracy. In the actual sense, lawmakers visit the State Assembly to make laws. And that place should not be their offices. If elected, I will have a constituency office where people can come and see me, and discuss their problems with me. Unfortunately, Hon. Abraham Oba is not accommodating, and doesn’t assist his Constituents in solving their problems. Some people call him a proud old man who applies a bleaching cream on his body, “he said .

The State Chairman of APGA in Ebonyi state, Chief Ricky Okorouka who  joined his Abia counterpart in the tour called on  Ebonyi state  people resident  Aba to vote for Prof. Greg Ibe and all  APGA candidates.

According to him, the people should not relent in fighting for  taking over power from PDP, because this is time to do so. He commended  State  APGA Chairman  for his efforts in making sure that the party is a force to reckon with in Abia state.

“I am from Ebonyi state but I live in Aba. As the State Chairman of APGA in Ebonyi state, I travel to Ebonyi state every now and then to make sure APGA is formidable in the State. Prof. Greg Ibe is the best gubernatorial candidate in Abia, and I call on the people of Ebonyi state, who are residing in Aba, to vote for Prof. Greg Ibe.

He is the man that can change the narrative of the state. And he has what it takes to govern Abia. Every gubernatorial candidate under APGA is unique and competent. There is development in Anambra state because a member of APGA is managing the State. When Rochas Okorocha was in APGA as a governor, he did great jobs for his people, but immediately he defected to another party, the spirit of excellence departed from him. In truth, APGA is known for excellence,”Okorouka said.

Speaking also, the Youth Leader of Prof Gregory Ibe (PGI) Campaign Council, Michael Okorie (White) told the people  that if Prof. Greg Ibe  is elected he will not double-tax them as being experienced now .

According to him, Prof. Greg Ibe will not tolerate double taxation in Abia and  he will dredge   Azumini River to ensure free movement of goods into the State by sea.

“The residents of Abia are more of traders, and the present government has continued to ask  them to pay several levies. Such a thing could cripple one’s business. But Prof. Greg Ibe, if elected, will end double taxation in Abia. Many of us in Aba are traders, but because there is no seaport in Abia, it is always difficult for imported goods to be transported to the East.

But if Prof. Greg Ibe becomes the governor of Abia state, he will make sure that Azumini River is being dredged. This will bring about the free movement of goods into the State. Once the professor becomes the governor of the State, everybody in Abia will enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said .

Speaking, the former commissioner in the state, Hon. Uwaoma Olewengwa educated the people on how to vote in order not  render the ballot papers useless.

She urged the people to  also vote for  Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to  return to the Senate, describing  National Assembly as a place for experienced politicians and not for all comers.

She said  Prof. Greg Ibe is the only gubernatorial candidate who will remember them once he becomes a governor.

The State Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere told the gathering that  Mathew Okorie is an  outstanding personality , who can always be trusted. He said that any vote for APGA is a vote for prosperity, development and human capital development.

“APGA will take over the leadership of the State on May 29,  remain focused.  Mathew Okorie who is known as Ogwo South is a young man I know very well. Members of his family are God-fearing people. Do you know why I call him a true party man? He had contested for the position of a councillor under APGA and won, but his mandate was stolen. In 2015, the party wanted to make him their flag bearer, but had to give it to Hon. Abraham Oba for some reasons.

“Today, Hon. Abraham Oba has defected to PDP.  But despite the disappointment, Ogwo South didn’t leave the Party. So, when he showed interest again, the Party leadership decided to give him the ticket. I believe he will not defect to another political party, if he is elected to represent Aba Central at the Abia State House of Assembly.” he said. Highlight of the tour, were presentation of gifts to wards chairmen at different wards.
