ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A Corps member serving in Anambra state Miss. Badewa Adesola Oluwatoyin has renovated a block of dilapidated toilets at the Community Secondary School, Umuoamaku, Orumba South  local government area of the state .

She said she was shocked that the toilet in the school was so bad and teachers and students were still making use of them.

“I had only spent a few weeks at the school and  had been eating something that  was reacting  bad to my system and  causing me  running stomach. I was making use of the toilet and anytime I visit the toilet I was sad  “she said .

She said she  was  shocked to find out that the convenience  in the school was in a deplorable state.

” I  was spurred by the near embarrassment I got while making use of the toilet and  I decided to undertake the project” she said . Speaking at the event , the Coordinator of the  National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Anambra State, Mr Kehinde Aremu commended Badewa Adesola Oluwatoyin for undertaking such a laudable project in the school.

Aremu, who was represented by the Assistant Director, Community Development Service, Mrs Bernadette Nwokeke stated  that corps members  in the state have contributed  immensely  to the development of their host communities over the years .

He also urged the stakeholders in the communities  to encourage corps members  through donations  of materials for the provision  of felt needs in their host  communities.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman, Orumba South LGA, Chief C.Y Okereke, who was represented by  one of his  aides , Mr Anayo Ibekwe  thanked the Corps member  for her   determination to complete the project despite the hardship occasioned by COVID 19 and its attending consequences.
