Leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Mr. Bantu Holomisa for the first time spoke on why a meeting was summoned at Ounu, Nelson Mandela’s home at Cape Town and what they discussed in the meeting on Tuesday.

Holomisa who spoke today at Mthatha airport says the purpose of the urgent family meeting was to bring the elders and family together. “The meeting was also attended by Ndileka and Ndaba Mandela, as well as Public Service Minister Lindiwe Sisulu”, says SABC.

Holomisa told local media that he was specifically invited to brief the elders on Madiba’s condition adding that the meeting was merely a briefing by Makaziwe Mandela to the elders of the Mandela family on the critical condition of Mandela.

“The other issue which was discussed was a report which appeared in the Sunday Times around the removal of the remains of Mandela’s children from Qunu to Mvezo. The matter was left entirely to the elders of the Mandela family as well as to Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela to effect the decision of the meeting on Tuesday.

However, President of Congress of Traditional Leaders Phathekile Holomisa says Mandela’s critical condition is a cause for great concern. The South African leader has spent two weeks in the Heart Hospital in Pretoria over a recurring lung infection.
Meanwhile the South Africans say that only by miracle will Mandela get out of his critical condition.
