WEMBLEY – A 22-year-old man and a woman have been dramatically arrested by detectives probing the horrific stabbing murder of a young man in Wembley.
The massive Met Police investigation was launched after the victim, 22, was knifed on High Road, Wembley, just before 1pm on Monday.
Despite the desperate efforts of paramedics, the victim sadly died later in hospital. His heartbroken family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
RAID ARRESTS
The dramatic arrests came earlier today (Tuesday) after cops swooped on an address in Harrow, NW9. A 22-year-old man was cuffed on suspicion of murder.
A woman, aged 21, was also arrested at the same address on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both suspects are currently being held in custody as detectives grill them over the fatal attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, from the Met’s Homicide Command, thanked locals for their help but urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “We are grateful for the help we have already received from the local community and while we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter, I would encourage those who have not yet spoken to police to come forward as soon as possible.”
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads local policing, admitted the murder had shocked residents.
He promised an increased police presence to reassure worried locals.
DCS Williams said: “We know this murder has caused shock and concern for residents and our officers are here to support those who live and work in the area.
“There will be an increased police presence at a number of locations – please do speak to these officers if you have any worries or issues.”
He added: “Our thoughts of course remain with the victim’s loved ones at this difficult time, and our specialist officers will continue to support them.”
