NIAMEY – The General Abdourahamane Tchiani led military junta of Niger has warned that they will kill ousted President Mohamed Bazoum in the event of any foreign intervention.
The coup leaders spoke just as the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has activated a standing army ready to invade Niger.
Although ECOWAS led by Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu believes diplomacy remains best option, they decided on the standby force.
“If we don’t do it nobody will do it for us Tinubu” said during the Ordinary meeting of ECOWAS in Abuja.
However the coup leaders made their views known while speaking to AFP.
Recall that Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States, Victoria Nuland made futile effort to meet with leader of the junta.
The junta also refused to meet with the delegation of Presidential committee sent by President Tinubu. It however met with the 4th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and his entourage.
Meanwhile, the junta has deployed heavy military artillery to its border with Nigeria ready to take on ECOWAS.
