UMUAHIA – In a clash where grit met glamour, it was Abia Warriors who emerged from the smoke with all three points, clinching a vital 1-0 victory over Kwara United. While the scoreline suggested a tight tactical battle, the evening was defined by individual brilliance that lit up the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The headlines belong to one man: Sunday Adejoh. In a game of few clear-cut openings, Adejoh proved why he is considered one of the most clinical assets in the Warriors’ arsenal.

His decisive moment came in the first half, a strike that combined raw instinct with the poise of a seasoned veteran. Latching onto a threaded pass that sliced through the Kwara defense, Adejoh silenced the visiting “Afongla” faithful, proving once again that he is the man for the big occasion.

While Adejoh took the glory, several stars turned in shifts that would have made any London scout take note:

Abiodun Adebayo (Abia Warriors): The defensive rock. Adebayo was a colossus at the back, organizing the line and snuffing out Kwara’s desperate late surges. His “man of the match” worthy performance ensured the clean sheet remained intact.

Emmanuel Anyanwu (Abia Warriors): A midfield engine. Anyanwu’s ability to disrupt Kwara’s rhythm allowed the Warriors to dictate the tempo for large spells of the game.

Adewale Adeyinka (Kwara United): Despite being on the losing side, the Kwara shot-stopper was sensational. If not for a string of acrobatic saves in the second half, the deficit could have been much wider.

Kwara United arrived with a blueprint to frustrate, but they lacked the final-third spark to match the Warriors’ intensity. The Harmony Boys found themselves stifled by a home side that looked fitter, sharper, and hungrier for the win.

This result catapults Abia Warriors further up the NPFL table, providing a massive confidence boost as the season reaches its boiling point. For Kwara United, it’s back to the drawing board to find a way to turn possession into goals.

”We knew it would be a battle of nerves. But when you have stars like Adejoh who can find that inch of space, you always have a chance,” – Abia Warriors Coaching Staff.
