July 25, 2015 – Managing Editor, THE NATION newspaper, Mr. Waheed Odusile today emerged President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ).

He defeated the current Vice President Rotimi Obamuwagun of Ondo state Broadcasting Corporation ‎in a keenly contested election.

Odusile scored 354 votes to defeat Rotimi Obamuwagun who got 333 while Dele Atunbi came distance third with 46 votes.

Speaking after the election Odusile ‎promised to sustain professionalism and pursue programs that will benefit members.

He also vowed to address issue of non payment of salaries to journalists in the country. The elections were held in Abuja. He defeated his closest rival by 21 votes.
