August 9, 2014 – German auto firm, Volkswagen today recalled 189,490 Tiguan sport-utility vehicles in North America due to fuel pump performance issue.

Volkswagen said the Tiguan brand, particularly models from 2009 to 2014 had issues in the fuel system that could lead to reduced fuel pump performance and pressure and could cause the vehicle to stall in motion.

It however said that while this could lead to an accident, none has been reported, noting that owners of affected models can get a revised electronic control module software installed free at VW dealers from August 2014.
