BODIJA, Ibadan, Nigeria – The Bodija Bomb blast in Ibadan, the ancient city will forever remain in the memory of many, following the level of devastation that took place in the wake of the blast.
The level of devastation is unfathomable. So many houses damaged beyond habitation. From, a distant, anybody would have taken the picture as Gaza in Palestine. But this is Nigeria.

So far, we have been told that only two people died, while 77 people were injured. But by the scale of destruction, it seems it is far from the truth.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, told journalists that priliminary investigation traced the explosion to Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs used by illegal miners inhabiting one of the buildings in the GRA.
But it seems, there is more to it than meet the eyes. The devastation appears to be worst that what happened when military ammunition depot ruptured in Ikeja on January 27, 2002.
