Washington, Oct. 22, 2016 — The U.S. military on Friday successfully struck two targets in central Yemen, killing eight terrorists associated with the group known as Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, a U.S. Central Command news release has said.

An Oct. 18 strike killed six terrorists in a remote area of the Shabwah Governorate, the release said.

And, another, Oct. 6 strike killed two terrorists in a remote area of the Shabwah Governorate, according to the release.




“Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula remains a significant threat to the region and to the United States,” Army Maj. Josh T. Jacques, U.S. Central Command spokesman, said in the release. “Al-Qa’ida’s presence has a destabilizing effect on Yemen, and we are working to deny them a haven from which to plan future attacks.”
