THE UNITED STATES has unleashed its most lethal “ghost” jets into Israel for the first time in history, as the Middle East teeters on the brink of an all-out explosion.
In a move that sends a chilling “zero-hour” warning to Tehran, a squadron of around a dozen F-22 Raptor stealth fighters touched down at an Israeli airbase this week.
The arrival of the world’s most advanced air-superiority fighters marks the first time the US has deployed offensive combat aircraft directly onto Israeli soil for an operational mission.
The Raptors, which flew in from RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, are the crown jewels of the US Air Force. Their mission is clear: to kick down the door of Iran’s sophisticated air defences if President Donald Trump gives the order to strike.
Military experts say the F-22s provide a “plug-and-play” offensive capability that could cripple Iranian radar and missile sites before they even know they are under attack.
A senior security source said:
”The F-22 is invisible to the enemy until it’s too late. By placing them in Israel, the US has essentially created a ‘stationary aircraft carrier’ right on Iran’s doorstep. This isn’t just a drill; it’s a statement of intent.”
The deployment is the “sharp end” of the largest US military surge in the region since the 2003 Iraq War. The massive buildup includes:
Two Carrier Strike Groups: The USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford are now in position, packing hundreds of Tomahawk missiles.
A “Wall of Steel”: Over 17 warships and dozens of refueling tankers are clogging the waterways near the Strait of Hormuz.
Air Power: The Raptors join a terrifying array of F-35s, F-15s, and B-52 bombers already massing at regional hubs.
Tensions have hit boiling point following the collapse of high-stakes nuclear talks in Geneva. With Iran refusing to halt its uranium enrichment, President Trump has reportedly been presented with strike options that could be executed “within days.”
Israeli officials, who have long warned of a “nuclear shadow” falling over the region, are said to believe a US-led strike is now “inevitable.”
Tehran has responded with fury, launching “shore-to-sea” missile drills and threatening to “set the region on fire” if a single American or Israeli bomb falls on its territory.
The F-22 Raptor is unique. It is so advanced that the US Congress has banned its sale to any other country—including its closest allies.
It can fly undetected by most current radar systems.
It can fly at supersonic speeds without using afterburners, making it harder to track thermally.
It is designed to “see first, shoot first” from distances the enemy cannot counter.
