July 22, 2015 – University of Birminghan, United Kingdom has discovered an ancient Koran, believed to be the oldest copy of the holy book.

Radiocarbon examination suggest that the holy book dated to at least 1,370 years old. The manuscript appear to be one of the oldest hand written copy of the holy book.

The manuscript according to the BBC had been kept with a collection of other Middle Eastern books and documents, without being identified as one of the oldest fragments of the Koran in the world.

British Library’s expert on manuscripts, Dr Muhammad Isa Waley was quoted as saying that the exciting discovery would make Muslims rejoice.
