NEW YORK, United States – Israel on Friday got the shocker despite measures it has been putting in place to make it impossible for a future Palestinian State, when the United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in support of two states solution for Palestine and Israel, with Jerusalem as capital for the proposed Palestinian State.

Only the United States and Israel voted against any future State of Palestine.

One hundred and forty countries showed their support for the two states solution, two voted against it while ten abstained.

It was a resolution called endorsement of the New York declaration on the peaceful settlement of the question of two states solution.

A high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-state solution co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia is  imminent.

This conference, which is a follow-up to an earlier meeting in July 2025,  is scheduled to be held on September 22, 2025, during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The  conference, initially planned for June, was postponed to July due to escalating tensions in the region.

At the July conference, a declaration was adopted that outlined a 15-month plan to establish a sovereign state of Palestine.

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will formally recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September.

Other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, have also stated their intention to conditionally recognize a Palestinian state at this time.

The United Kingdom is recognizing Palestine based on fulfillment of conditions.
