CALABAR – Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has slammed the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for calling him “the boy living in his backyard” and “calls himself Governor”, stressing that the money with which Tinubu launched into politics on his way from NADECO was from his desk.
Udom Emmanuel who said he will reply Tinubu on another day described reference to him as a boy as an insult to him and the people of Akwa Ibom.
He said he provided the APC Presidential campaign team, the Akwa Ibom International stadium for his campaign, adding that the airport on which the team landed was built by him without a kobo from the Federal Government.
He said he applied to the Federal Government for approval for a deep seaport but that he was not granted that approval till date.
He said that an Akwa Ibom man will not do what Tinubu did in Akwa Ibom in Lagos and go scot-free, adding that Tinubu is not from Lagos.
“The comments by Sen.Tinubu, so to say the least is immature and totally unexpected from a person of his advanced age. This is an insult to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State and we demand an apology”, he said.
He added that Mr. Udom Emmanuel was duly elected as a governor and therefore undemocratic for Tinubu to say that “he calls himself Governor”.
