Nigeria, March 23, 2016 – At least two people were roasted Monday night when fire engulfed the popular Kuramo Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Confirming the incident, Director of Fire, Lagos State Fire Service, Engr. Rasaq Fadipe said affected structures are makeshift shops built around the beach that harbour squatters and petty traders.
He said over 100 shops were affected by the incident.
He identified those roasted by the fire as two adults, a male and female and that they were cooked by the fire before help could reach them.
Although the cause of the incident is not yet known, Fadipe has on a number of occasions warned residents not to store fuel in their homes.
