LAGOS, Nigeria – ​BRIT boxing legend Anthony Joshua has been rushed to a specialist hospital following a horror car crash that left two people dead.

The two-time world heavyweight champ, 36, was travelling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria today when his vehicle smashed into a stationary truck.

​The freak accident claimed the lives of two people in the vehicle, while AJ and one other passenger were “immediately evacuated” from the wreckage.
​‘Stable’.

Despite the severity of the smash, doctors say the Watford-born powerhouse is in a “stable” condition.

​In a joint statement, the governments of Ogun and Lagos states confirmed: “The vehicle conveying the team of four ran into a stationary truck resulting in two fatalities.
​”Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised facility in Lagos.

​”Doctors have conducted several clinical assessments and have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time.”
​Family Vigil

​The 6ft 6in star is said to be awake and “relating well” with his family as he remains under the watchful eye of a “comprehensive medical team.”

Local officials expressed their “deepest sympathy” to the families of those killed in the tragedy and have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash.

A spokesperson added: “The Governments of Ogun and Lagos are keenly monitoring the situation and will ensure that the two persons receive the best medical care.

​”We appreciate the public’s concern and ask for privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family during this time.”
