WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has plunged the United States(U.S) into a trade war with China, Mexico and Canada by imposing import tariffs on goods from those countries to starve off interest on their products.

Trump imposed 25 percent tariffs on Mexico and Canada and an additional 10 percent on Canada energy. He also made his threats on China real by imposing 10 percent import tariffs on China.

In a statement on X, Trump said the implementation of the tariff order was done through the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, IEEPA.

He said he implemented the tariffs  because of the illegal aliens and deadly drugs killing citizens of America, including fentanyl.

“We need to ensure the safety of all”, he said adding “ we need to protect Americans and it is my duty as President to ensure the safety of all.

He alluded to the promise he made during his campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across the borders and that Americans overwhelming voted in favour of what he promised.

“I made a promise on my campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across our borders and Americans overwhelmingly voted in favour of it”, he said.
