PRESIDENT Donald Trump has sensationally blacklisted AI powerhouse Anthropic, branding the firm “Leftwing nut jobs” in a blistering row over how the U.S. military uses artificial intelligence.
In a fiery Truth Social post issued at 03:47 PM EST today, the Commander-in-Chief ordered every single federal agency to “IMMEDIATELY CEASE” using the company’s technology.
The dramatic move comes after the San Francisco-based tech giant—creator of the popular ‘Claude’ AI—refused to drop ethical guardrails that prevent its software from being used for mass surveillance or autonomous “killer robots.”
Trump, who has pointedly referred to the Pentagon as the “Department of War” since returning to office, accused the company of trying to “strong-arm” the United States government.
”The United States of America will never allow a radical left, woke company to dictate how our great military fights and wins wars!” Trump declared.
“That decision belongs to YOUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.”
He added: “Their selfishness is putting AMERICAN LIVES at risk, our troops in danger, and our National Security in JEOPARDY.”
The President has granted a six-month “phase out” period for the Department of War and other agencies currently reliant on Anthropic’s systems.
However, he issued a chilling ultimatum to the firm’s bosses, warning them to cooperate or face the “Full Power of the Presidency.”
”Anthropic better get their act together… or I will use the Full Power of the Presidency to make them comply, with major civil and criminal consequences to follow,” the post read.
The fallout follows a tense week in Washington, where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly gave Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei a Friday deadline to grant the military unrestricted access to its AI models.
While rivals like Elon Musk’s xAI and OpenAI have reportedly moved closer to the administration’s “lawful use” requirements, Anthropic held firm on its safety principles—a move Trump today dismissed as the work of “people who have no idea what the real world is all about.”
The ban marks the biggest escalation yet in Trump’s war on “woke” Silicon Valley, sending shockwaves through the tech industry as the 5:01 PM deadline passed without a deal.
