LAGOS — Celebrated Nollywood actress and award-winning film producer, Toyin Abraham, has shared a deeply personal account of grief and resilience, revealing that she recently suffered a miscarriage at four months while actively working on a movie set.
The popular screen star made the emotionally charged revelation on Saturday while ministering and sharing her testimony at the Bestie Jesu Concert 2026 held in Lagos. Speaking before a packed audience, Abraham opened up about the physical and emotional toll the tragedy took on her, noting that the demand of her filming schedule coincided with one of the most painful moments of her life.
Reflecting on the harrowing incident, Abraham recalled how the loss unfolded while she was in the middle of production, leaving her emotionally drained and physically exhausted.
“I was four months pregnant, but I lost it. But guess what, I was filming, so I was down,” the visibly moved actress shared during her testimony.
The filmmaker explained that in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, she faced the dilemma of whom to contact.
Her initial instinct was to protect her elderly mother from the heartbreaking news to prevent causing her undue distress.
“I didn’t want to call my parents; you know how it is that you don’t want to… my parents, my mom is old, and I didn’t want to call my mom,” she said.
Though she managed to reach her husband, fellow actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, he was out of town and unable to be physically present at the critical moment.
“I just told my husband, but that day he was far away, and guess who I called? I just called Pastor Bolaji. He just started praying for me, and he said, ‘Where are you?’ I said, ‘I’m on my way to the hospital,’” Abraham stated.
Outpouring of Spiritual and Financial Support
The actress recounted how Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, stepped in as a crucial support system during the emergency.
Upon learning that she was headed to the medical facility for a surgical evacuation procedure, the cleric offered immediate spiritual guidance and substantial financial assistance.
“Pastor Bolaji asked what was going to happen at the hospital, and I explained that I was scheduled to undergo an evacuation procedure,” Abraham noted. “And Pastor Bolaji sent me millions. Thank you so much, Pastor Bolaji. God bless you.”
This is not the first time the acclaimed actress has opened up about her deeply personal struggles with pregnancy loss and family planning. In late 2022, during a candid interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, Abraham disclosed that she had previously suffered a pregnancy loss, an experience that left her heartbroken as she and her husband actively sought to expand their family.
At the time, the Ijakumo producer shared how deeply the loss affected her desire to have additional children alongside her son, Ireoluwa Ajeyemi, whom she welcomed in 2019, and her stepdaughter.
Her decision to speak publicly about secondary infertility and pregnancy loss has drawn widespread praise from fans and reproductive health advocates across Nigeria, where conversations surrounding miscarriages often carry societal taboos.
