December 04, 2015 – Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Dekina, headquarters of Dekina Local Government, Kogi State was this morning gutted by fire.
The fire incident is coming less than 24 hours to the Kogi election.
According to eyewitnesses, thugs invaded the office at about 5:00am and set it on fire in anger likely by way of protesting decision of INEC to conduct a supplementary election in the state.
“The thugs came in a bus, shot sporadically before setting the building on fire,” a source said.
INEC sources say that the fire will not affect the election since materials will be moved from other INEC office in Kogi for the election.
