ONITSHA, Aanambra, Nigeria – The Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese and member National Peace Committee on Election Matters Bishop Mathew Kuka on Wednesday   said that there is no threat to the Anambra governorship election.

He urged   voters to come out enmass and vote for their choice candidate. Meanwhile the eighteen governorship candidates for the election will tomorrow sign a peace accord in order to assure all and sundry that there would be no violence during and after the election.

Kukah told journalists at the sideline of stakeholders meeting held at Women Development Centre Awka that anyone who does not participate in the November 6 election cannot blame  it on  poor security arrangement.

According to him, “from  what we have on ground by the security operatives and the Independent National Electoral Commission ,I do not see any threat to the election and anyone who refuses to come out and vote does  not want to vote because there is no security threat at all and the Inspector General of Police has assured us that they are prepared for the election”.

He encouraged every electorate with the INEC voters card in the state to feel free and come out for the election. “We are going to sign a peace accord and all the candidates and political parties are going to be part of this peace process; he said.

Meanwhile the Inspector General of  Police; IGP Usman Alkali has assured the Anambra resident of  security of lives and property during and after the election. He urged every person with INEC  voter card to come and freely move to his or her polling unit and fast vote for their right candidate.

The IGP also assured that the security on ground would govern by the time of the engagement. He, however warned troublemakers  to desist  as they will meet their waterloo if they do anything unlawful.
