The Executive Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Orji on Tuesday poured encomiums on the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari on the latter’s leadership style and several accomplishments in the past four years.

“I must praise your excellent leadership style, which has been commended by several leading stakeholders of the game in Nigeria, Africa and the world, and it is obvious that your style is working.

“Our country has never had it so good on and off the field of play. Your administration has achieved so much within its less-than-four years in office, with triumphs at the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations having been followed by qualification for the FIFA World Cup.”

Stating that Maigari’s administration has far surpassed all before it, Governor Orji added that he is wishing the Super Eagles the very best at the 20th FIFA World Cup finals taking place in Brazil this summer, adding that ‘I am sure that in your usual style, you will provide the team with adequate preparation for the championship.”

Speaking earlier, the NFF President commended the efforts of Governor Orji and his administration for giant strides in football development, particularly sponsorship of three top clubs in the country: Enyimba FC and Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League, and Abia Comets in the Nigeria National League.“I must also praise your efforts in the area of health-care, road development, youth empowerment and general infrastructural development,” Maigari said.

The NFF President, who was in Abia State for the South East Zonal Football Summit which took place in the State capital, Umuahia on Tuesday, was accompanied to the Governor’s Office by High Chief Emeka Inyama, Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity Committee and Chairman of the Nigeria National League. At the summit, the South East Zone, comprising Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Anambra and Enugu States, passed a vote of confidence on the NFF Executive Committee and the Federation.
